The Admin/Planning committee met last night (March 19th, 2013) and we reviewed a quote for services from CDS Coop Consultants to obtain a financial proforma which will determine whether our store will be successful. The cost for this study is $5,000 so we are going to apply for a grant for one-half of the costs. We will also be checking references. The group reviewed “talking points” for phone banks that we are starting. The group that is active is small, so we are phoning all of our members to ask them to volunteer in some way to even out the work load. March 19, 2013 (cancelled the Monday meeting due to the blizzard conditions) We also reviewed a draft of the membership cards which everyone agreed these look good and we need to get them out to all our paid members. The annual members business meeting requires a 10 day written notice, so we are sending those out also to let members know that our first annual membership meeting will take place after the breakfast on April 6th around 10:30 a.m.
The next Event/Fund Raising Committee meeting is November 20th at 6:30 p.m. at China Buffet – 8900 Walnut St Rockford Mall. Please join us as we need more volunteers to continue our efforts!
The next Administration/Planning committee meeting is November 19th – 7:00 p.m. Rockford City Hall, 6031 Main Street, please join us.
The admin/planning committee met on Oct 3rd to discuss how we can increase our membership and awareness in the community. A house party in the Parkwood neighborhood is being planned at one of our committee members house on October 25th at 7 p.m. Residents of this neighborhood will be invited to the open house and a few committee members will be available to provide information about the food co-op and to sign up new members. We also discussed meeting with residents on Saturday mornings at the Bridge Street Cafe. More lawn signs, and window signs will be placed throughout the community. The committee agrees that the best way to increase membership is face to face meetings with our future members and shoppers of the Crow River Food Co-op.
The Event/Fundraising committee will be present at the Crow River Christmas on Dec. 1st .
The Admin/Planning Committee met on August 1st to review information on meetings with food distributors/wholesalers. We also received our feasibility study which we went over briefly. The study gives us sales projections for the first three years and notes that the best location for the store is at the end cap of the Rockford Mall along Highway 55 and Walnut Street. Board members are meeting with the Mall owners to discuss the lease a build out costs.
The Crow River Food Co-op Admin/Planning committee met on May 30th and are working on membership documents, meeting with SCORE representatives, contacting food wholesalers and continue to work with mentors around the community and in other cooperatives. We are applying for a CAP grant for assistance with our business plan.
